Primary School Notes For English and Kiswahili Medium:- In most parts of the world, primary education is the first stage of compulsory education, and is normally available without charge, but may also be offered by fee paying independent schools.

The term grade school is sometimes used in the US, although this term may refer to both primary education and secondary education.

The term primary school is derived from the French école primaire, which was first used in an English text in 1802. In the United Kingdom, “elementary education” was taught in “elementary schools”

Until 1944, when free elementary education was proposed for students over 11: there were to be primary elementary schools and secondary elementary schools; these became known as primary schools and secondary schools.

Primary school is the preferred term in the United Kingdom, Ireland and many Commonwealth nations, and in most publications of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Elementary school is still preferred in some countries, especially in the United States and Canada.

In some parts of the United States, “primary school” refers to a school covering kindergarten through to second grade or third grade (K through 2 or 3)

The “elementary school” includes grade three through five or grades four to six. In Canada, “elementary school” almost everywhere refers to Grades 1 through 6; with Kindergarten being referred to as “preschool.

ORDINARY LEVEL FULL NOTES ALL SUBJECTS:- The O’Level is a subject-based qualification conferred as part of the General Certificate of Education.

In Tanzania O level involves four classes known as

  • Form One
  • Form Two
  • Form Three and
  • Form Form.

In each year student are tested in accordance to NECTA and Schools guidelines. For Form two and four all students undergo NECTA examination in which will decide whether the student will go forward to next class or not.

Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE)
What is TIE?

Tanzania Institute of Education is an evaluation tool for the academic materials in Tanzania. It enables private publishers to submit electronic teaching and learning materials for evaluation and validation. It includes all of the functionality found in the mobile phone application.

Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) is a public institution under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

The Institute is charged with the responsibility of interpreting government policies on education to befit curriculum programs and instructional materials in order to facilitate provision of quality education at pre-primary, primary, secondary, and teacher education levels.

Originally, the Institute under the name of Institute of Education (IE), was established by Act No. 13 of 1963 as a constituent unit of the then University College of Dar es Salaam.

Its major function was to harmonize the teacher training function of the University College of Dar es Salaam with the then Ministry of Education in order to improve the teaching and learning process in schools and teacher education colleges.

In July 1970, the University College of Dar es Salaam was elevated to the status of an autonomous University, the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). The Institute of Education remained a constituent unit of the newly formed University.

In 1975, IE was elevated to a corporate body by Act of Parliament No. 13 of 1975 which placed it under the Ministry of Education and Culture, thus making it independent of UDSM.
