The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is the oldest and premier public university in Tanzania.
It is situated 13 kilometers on the western side of the city of Dar es Salaam, occupying 1,625 acres on the observation hill, famously known as Mlimani in Kiswahili.
It was established on 25th October 1961 as the University College Dar es Salaam (UCD), an affiliate college of the University of London.
UDSM became a full-fledged university on 1st July 1970 through Act No. 12 of 1970.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Lecturer
Applicants for the post of Lecturer must possess a PhD, a minimum GPA of 4.0 or a B+ average at Master’s degree level and an undergraduate degree with an overall GPA of 3.8 or higher from an internationally reputable higher learning institution. They must be potentially good academically.
2. Assistant Lecturer
Applicants for the post of Assistant Lecturer must possess a minimum GPA of 4.0 or a B+ average at Master’s degree level and an undergraduate degree with an overall GPA of 3.8 or higher from an internationally reputable higher learning institution. They must be potentially good academically.
3. Tutorial Assistant
Applicants for the post of Tutorial Assistant must possess a Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8 from an internationally reputable higher learning institution.
TERMS OF SERVICE
Permanent and pensionable.
MODE OF APPLICATION

c. Photocopy of birth certificate.

b. Applicants must have National Identification numbers from the National Identification Authority (NIDA).

d. Applicants whose employment in public service was terminated for whatever reasons should not apply.
e. Certificates from foreign Universities should be verified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).
f. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
g. Presentation of forged certificates & other false information will result in automatic disqualification and legal action.
h. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview.
i. Applicants must be citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years
