The Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU)

The Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) has a long history that dates back to January 5, 1963, when the former Co-operative College Moshi was founded.

The College’s main responsibility under the former Ministry of Co-operatives and Community Development was to train human resources in the cooperative sector.

The College was established as a self-governing institution with its own Governing Board under the Co-operative College Act No. 32 (Repealed) of 1964.

The Co-operative College Moshi was renamed MUCCoBS as the Constituent University College of Sokoine University of Agriculture by Government Notice No. 172 of 2004. (SUA).

MoCU was founded in September 2014 as a result of the transformation of MUCCoBS into a full-fledged university.

The University is governed by its own Charter, which was established in 2005 in accordance with Universities Act No. 7.

Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) accredited it on November 7, 2018.
