Kivukoni College originally produced the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy.
In February 1958, the TANU National Conference in Tabora passed a resolution to establish an adult college along the lines of Ruskin College in Oxford.
The College was to be a tool for spreading understanding of the social, political, and economic problems that underdeveloped countries like Tanganyika face among people
Who were likely to become leaders in newly independent countries but lacked the qualifications required to enter educational institutions.
The Adult College was incorporated as a private company under the Companies Ordinance on July 29, 1961. (Cap 212).
Kivukoni College was the name given to the institution. Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, President of Tanzania, inaugurated Kivukoni College.
“This College’s name is significant. It’s not just that the location is a physical crossing point.
Tanganyika is currently at a crossroads; on December 9th, we will take on new and significant responsibilities.
To ensure a safe journey, we will need a strong and capable crew, and every student must become a member of that crew.
But first, he or she must make his or her own crossing; a crossing to greater understanding and new opportunities for service “.
Mwalimu stated about the adult college, “Kivukoni College is not intended to be a College for the Elite; it is intended to contribute to the development of all people.”
Kivukoni Ideological College’s main functions were:
To spread and reinforce the Party’s (TANU) ideology by interpreting, teaching, analysing, and defending it, and thereby raising the level of understanding among leaders and the general public.
To serve as a source of ideas to assist the Party in promoting Tanzania’s development. To serve as a source of information and an advisory body on various issues concerning the Party’s ideology.

MNMA’s vision is to become a centre of excellence for knowledge acquisition and adoption, as well as a provider of education and training for creativity and innovation, while also promoting peace and national unity.
Mission
The Academy’s mission is to advance lifelong learning through excellence in teaching, research, consulting, and public service in a challenging and supportive learning environment where knowledge, creative inquiry, critical thinking, and applied skills are cultivated and sustained.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
i. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years except
for those who are in Public Service;

• Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates;
• Professional Registration and Training Certificates from respective Registration or Regulatory Bodies (where applicable);
• Birth certificate;
v. Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted: –
• Form IV and form VI results slips;
• Testimonials and all Partial transcripts;
vi. An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal;
vii. An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his application letter through his respective employer;
viii. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply;
ix. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;
x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
xi. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE);
xii. An applicant with special needs/case (disability) is supposed/advised to indicate;
