HESLB KUFUNGULIWA DIRISHA LA KUOMBA MKOPO | LOAN APPLICATION 2022/2023
The Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) is an organisation created by Act No. 9 of 2004 (as modified in 2007, 2014, and 2016) with the purpose of supporting deserving and needy Tanzanian students in obtaining loans and grants for higher education.
HESLB’s primary directives are as follows:
<> To provide loans to deserving students who are accepted into colleges or universities but lack the financial means to cover their tuition bills.
<> To recover past-due loans from loan recipients and use the money as a revolving fund to maintain the Board’s activities.
<> To establish strategic partnerships in the ecosystem of student financing in order to create synergies
Mission
To offer needy and qualified Tanzanian students loans and grants for higher education.
Vision
to serve as a dependable and long-lasting revolving fund for financing eligible Tanzanian students pursuing higher education.
The Purposes Of HESLB
<> To take charge of the control and management of all loanable funds within the Board’s authority.
<> To develop the system for figuring out which students qualify for loan repayment.
<> To manage and oversee the entire loan payment and repayment process
<> To maintain the beneficiary list for student loans and other data required by the Board
<> To provide legal and policy advice to the Minister about arrangements for and the recovery of student loan debt.
<> To develop operational ties between the Board and institutions of higher learning that serve students who are loan recipients in order to facilitate a seamless, effective administration of the loan monies.
Establishing functional ties with loan recipients’ employers in order to facilitate the repayment of the loans given.
HESL LOAN APPLICATION OPENS JULY 15
The Higher Education Student Loans Board (HESLB) would like to inform students and the public that it is finalizing the loan application procedures for the academic year 2022/2023 and the window will be opened before July 15, 2022.
“This report is issued following a number of requests for clarification information from students who completed Form Six in 2022 and their results were announced by the National Examinations Council (NECTA), Tuesday, July 5, 2022.” said HESLB CEO, Abdul-Razaq Badru today (July 6, 2022).
In the meantime, prospective loan applicants are advised to remain calm and begin preliminary preparations to prepare the necessary documents such as their birth certificates or death certificates of their parents certified by the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) and the Special Events Registration Agency Zanzibar (ZCSRA).
In addition, detailed information on the qualifications and procedure for applying for a loan for the year 2022/2023 will be available in the ‘Loan Guide for the year 2022/2023’ which will be available at www.heslb.go.tz from July 15, 2022.
