Who Are We

The Prime Minister’s Office – Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities (PMO-LYED) can be traced back from the time when our country got independence in 1961.

From 1961 to 1962 the Ministry was known as Ministry of Labour and Healthy; Ministry of Communication (1962 to 1968), Ministry of Communication, Transport and Labour (1968 to 1972); Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (1972 to 1984); Ministry of Labour and Manpower Development (1985 to 1988); Ministry of Labour Culture and Social Welfare (1989 to 1990);

Ministry of Labour, Youth Development and Sports (1990 to 2006); Ministry of Labour, Employment and Youth Development (2006 to 2010); Ministry of Labour and Employment (2010 to 2015) and Prime Minister’s Office – Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities (PMO-LYED) (2015 to date).

Notwithstanding of all these changes Labour remains the core concern. Those changes was official approved by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and became operational on 7th July, 2018.

The structure was designed to facilitate the implementation of the mandates of the Office as provided for in the Notice on assignment of Ministerial Functions (Instruments) Vide Government Notice No.144 of April, 2016 and its amendment of 7th October, 2017.

ADVERTISEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTHS

1. The Office of the Prime Minister, Labour, Youth Employment and the Disabled is implementing the Skills Development Program in the country, which aims to enable the National workforce to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in the labor market.

The office has entered into an agreement with 28 colleges to provide training in various fields including:

1. Fashion Design and Tailoring,

2. Plumbing,

3. Masonry,

4. Carpentry,

5. Welding and Joining,

6. Painting and Sign Writing,

7. Mechanical Spare Parts Manufacturing,

8. Tour Guides,

9. Automotive Mechanics and Mechanical,

10. Domestic and Industrial Electrical,

11. IT,

12. Automotive Electrical, and

13. Hotel and Tourism Services.

2. Therefore, we would like to announce that young Tanzanians between the ages of 15 and 35 who are interested in joining training in one of the fields listed above should come to the colleges specified in this announcement below to take the form to apply for training.

The government will fund the training fee at 100 percent. The student / parent / guardian will cover other expenses including the fare to go to college and back home.

The training will be full-time, so the applicant is advised to apply for this training in a college located in the Region where he lives.

3. Applications should be submitted from 27/02/2023 to 10/03/2023 accompanied by the following documents:

i. Training application letter;

ii. Copy of Birth Certificate;

iii. A copy of the Certificate of education you have graduated from;

iv. Citizenship ID / voter’s card (For those aged 18 and above);

v. Letter of identification from the Local/Village Government Office where the applicant lives; and

vi. Four passport photos (three names of the applicant should be written on the back).

4. The qualifications for joining this training are:

i. Basic or higher education in the fields of fashion design and tailoring, plumbing, construction, carpentry, welding and metalworking, painting and sign writing;

ii. Education form four and above for other fields including the field of manufacturing mechanical parts, domestic and industrial electricity, IT, and vehicle electricity;

iii. Be a Tanzanian;

iv. Be between the ages of 15-35;

v. May he be healthy.

5. Female Youth and Disabled Youth are encouraged to apply for these opportunities and will be given priority in these training opportunities;

6. Applications should be taken and submitted to the nearest colleges in your Region that have been accepted by the Government to provide this training; and

7. Only those who meet the criteria and qualifications will be selected.

NB: Application forms are available in all colleges approved by the Government to provide this training.
