On behalf of Dodoma Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DUWASA), Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and suitable qualified

Tanzanians to fill six (06) vacant posts as mentioned below;

DODOMA URBAN WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION
AUTHORITY (DUWASA)

Dodoma Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DUWASA) was established under
section 3(I) of Cap. 272 of 1997 as repealed by section 60 of Water Supply and Sanitation
Act No. 12 of 2009.

It was declared a fully autonomous entity by order of the Minister
responsible for water sector on 13th February, 1998; and was officially inaugurated on 1st
July, 1998.

It is charged with the overall responsibility of operations and management of
water supply and sanitation services in Dodoma urban within the municipality.

The Authority operates under a Board of Directors and the day-to-day activities of the
Authority are managed by experienced and professionally qualified staff in various
disciplines of competence.

1.  PUMP OPERATOR II – 3 POSTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To operate the water pumps according to agreed schedules and ensures that the right quantity of water is pumped from the storage tanks.

ii. To monitor water level in the storage water tanks.

iii. To report defective water pumps to the pump mechanic for repairs Monitors availability of electncity and record on electricity power failure.

iv. To ensure the required dosage of chlorine/chemicals is administered according to the required standards.

v. To ensure cleanliness of water pump, panel Houses and booster station sarroundings

vi. To maintain records of plants and pump performance and reports any breakdowns immediately.

vii. To record the amount of pumped water at established time intervals.

viii. To make meter reading of electricity consumption at established time intervals.

ix. To record pressure gauge performance at established intervals.

x. To keeps in safe custody water treatment chemicals and reagents.

xi. To advises on a stock level of chemicals,

xii. To record the pressure performance established intervals

xiii. To develop individual performance objectives, targets and standards in consultation with the immediate superior as part of performance agreement

xiv. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Form IV with Trade Test grade I in Electrical/Mechanic
al Engineering/Pump Engineering from VETA or equivalent qualification

SALARY SCALE: AS PER DUWASA SCALE

2 GIS TECHNICIAN II – 1 POST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Assist in capturing GIS data in different formats using GPS, electronic data recorders, digitizers, and other recognized means. institution with good interpersonal communication skills.

ii. Carry out cataloguing and inventory of GIS data, including metadata creation.

iii. Input, update and maintain GIS databases, including backups and also maintaining linkages to other databases.

iv. Participate in creating map layouts and views and generate WSSA’s current and planned water network maps and reports

v. Assist in the design, development (implementation) and maintenance of the WSSA’s GIS

vi. Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder Diploma/FTC Geomatics or related qualifications from a recognized institution with
good interpersonal communication skills.

SALARY SCALE: AS PER DUWASA SCALE

3. SEWARAGE AND MAINTANANCE TECHNICIAN II – 1 POSTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Advises the Sewerage Design and Construction Engineer on issues pertaining to planning, designs and construction sewerage networks.

ii. Collects, compiles and evaluates data on sewerage works

iii. Undertakes surveys, prepares drawings/sketches existing and proposed sewerage works, structures and buildings

iv. Maintains data production/updated water sewerage systems maps, customer/distribution/collection systems and data on population served

v. Prepares drawings of sewerage works

vi. Prepares Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and estimates for sewerage works

vii. Monitors designs and contract progress against targets and prepares regular reports to the supervisor recommending action to correct adverse trends.

viii. Reviews submitted designs, tender documents and contract forms to ensure that they conform to the agreed requirements Supervises all sewerage network construction contracts

ix. Prepares construction progress reports .tor each contract

x. Designs and supervises extension of Sewerage distribution lines

xi. Coordinates project proposals from different sources

xii. Prepares bills of quantities (BOQ) and estimates for sewerage works.
xiii. Maintains construction equipment and ensures that they are kept in safe
custody

xiv. Undertakes sewerage construction works.

xv. Undertakes rehabilitation of Buildings and sewerage pipe network.

xvi. Prepares periodic reports on the activities of the unit

xvii. Develops individual performance objectives, targets and standards in
consultation with the immediate superior as part of performance agreement

xviii. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by Sewerage Design and
Construction Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Diploma/FTC in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent qualification and
good working knowledge of ICT.

SALARY SCALE: AS PER DUWASA SCALE

4. ASSISTANT TECHINICIAN (WELDER) II- 1 POST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Weld small and large component plumbing, machines and pipelines

ii. Maintain and repair machinery

iii. Prepare and align parts for welding,

iv. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Form IV with Trade Test grade II/Level 11, National Vocational
Award II (NVA 11) or NT A level 4 in Mechanical Technology (Welding) from VETA or
equivalent qualification from recognized institution .

SALARY SCALE: AS PER DUWASA SCALE

GENERAL CONDITIONS

x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).

xi. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE);

xii. An applicant with special needs/case (disability) is supposed/advised to indicate;
