What is Curriculum Implementation?
This term refers to the act of carrying out curriculum specialists’ and subject experts’ plans and suggestions in a classroom or school setting.
Teachers are the primary curriculum implementers, but students, parents, and school administrators can also be directly or indirectly involved in the implementation process.

Curriculum implementation refers to how teachers deliver instruction and assessment using the resources specified in the curriculum.
Curriculum designs typically include instructional suggestions, scripts, lesson plans, and assessment options for a specific set of objectives.
Such designs emphasize consistency in order to assist teachers in successfully implementing and maintaining the curricular structure in order to meet a variety of objectives.

1. Learning Motivation:
Driving influences from internal (intrinsic) or external (extrinsic) forces that give students power to learn effectively. Teachers are the best source of motivation in the teaching-learning interaction.
2. Teachers’ Beliefs:
A set of strong feelings and attitudes of teachers about things that can affect the teaching-learning interaction. What teachers believe in have direct implication on the teaching-learning transaction.
3. Curriculum Planning:
Is the process of structuring academic experiences, using expertise knowledge of the teacher. It is the activity which teachers get involved in before the actual implementation.
4. Curriculum Implementation:
This term refers to the act of working out the plans and suggestions that have been made by curriculum specialists and subject experts in a classroom or school setting.
Teachers are the main curriculum implementers, while at the same time students, parents, school administrators can be directly or indirectly involved in the implementation process.
5. Curriculum Development:
This is the initial stage of curriculum processes whereby curriculum specialists sit down to propose innovative and creative suggestions for various educational experiences and programs.
6. Instructional Technology:
This term refers to creative and innovative use of available instructional resources such as materials, resources and facilities in a way that teaching is simplified and learning is maximized.
7. Teacher Motivation:
Driving influences from internal (intrinsic) or external (extrinsic) forces that give teachers power to run their daily routine.
8. Role of the Teacher:
Specified duties that students, parents, school administration and society at large expect teachers to perform. Apart from teaching, teachers have additional duties such as role modeling to perform.

Creative initiatives in curriculum planning and implementation processes by learners, teachers and curriculum specialists.
Curriculum Implementation Calendar 2023
This curriculum implementation calendar is an initiative of the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to ensure that the curriculum is implemented optimally. It was created with the national school calendar for 2022 in mind.
The school year is divided into two terms, each with one short and long break. Every teacher is required to use this curriculum implementation calendar when preparing the scheme of work.

This calendar shows the number of periods, month, week, and date for achieving each specific competence. This calendar is applicable to both public and private schools.
The rationale of curriculum implementation calendar
This calendar will aid in the coordination of what is supposed to be taught for a specific period of time across the country. If followed, all students will learn the same specific competence at the same time.
This will also assist education coordinators and supervisors in identifying weaknesses in a specific subject’s teaching. Aside from that, this calendar will aid in the evaluation of topics taught in a given period of time.
The curriculum implementation calendar’s structure The curriculum implementation calendar is divided into six (6) major sections: main topic, sub topic, number of periods, month, week, and date.
These parts are described as follows.
Topic:
General content of the subject matter that are expected to be taught in order to develop the intended competences.
Sub topic:
These are similar units of the topic that have been arranged in a logical order to facilitate teaching and learning process.
Number of periods:
This is a total number of periods required to teach a specific competence as per subtopic.
These periods have been adopted from the subject syllabi although for some cases number of periods has been added or deducted to match with number of teaching and learning days as per school calendar.
Month:
This is the month in which a specific competence or subtopic is supposed to be taught.
Week:
These are five workdays in a month under which a process of teaching and learning will take place.
Date:
This is a specific day of the month in which teaching and learning will take place.
This calendar is a road map that will assist a teacher in determining his or her own pace in teaching a specific competence as prescribed by the subject syllabus.
It is suggested that a teacher complete all topics and subtopics as indicated in this calendar on time. Internal and external quality assurance personnel will use this calendar to assess the teacher’s effectiveness in carrying out his or her responsibilities.
